Defending the Rural Character of Deschutes Junction

The Deschutes Junction area is midway between Bend and Redmond along Highway 97. It is an area rural in character that has seen repeated efforts to more intensively develop.

In 2011 LandWatch successfully opposed proposed plan amendments to the Deschutes County Comprehensive Plan and Code that would have allowed more extensive development in the area. It is important to keep these lands rural in nature to protect their rural character for existing residents and surrounding agricultural uses.
