At its most recent meeting, Central Oregon LandWatch's Board of Directors voted firmly to support Measure 49, making LandWatch the most recent in a long-list of organizations supporting this effort to reform Measure 37 and prevent irreperable harm from coming to Oregon's rural landscape and natural environment.
Measure 49 doesn't revoke Measure 37, it clarifies and limits its scope. To see how Central Oregon is affected by Measure 37, view the file attached to this post (pdf). Although it's not perfect, Measure 49 is a reasonable compromise and a much-needed fix supported by groups as diverse as the Oregon Farm Bureau, (Bend's own) Brooks Resources, the Sierra Club, the American Heart Association, and the Oregon Business Association.
Measure 49 is must-pass legislation, and Central Oregon LandWatch offers is wholehearted endorsement of the measure.
