OLCV Releases Green Scorecard for 2007

The Oregon League of Conservation Voters has finally released its Green Scorecard for 2007. Blue Oregon has some commentary here.

Notables? Ben Westlund scored 100%. Nice work, Ben! Chuck Burley came in with a 56%, while Gen Whisnant hit just about the Republican average with 42%.

Scores were up across the board this year, but most notably - as Blue Oregon points out - with Republicans, who increased from 17% and 13% in the Senate and House respectively to 40% and 41% in 2007. Dems in both chambers scored in the 90s.

Does this mean that legislators across the board are echoing the environmental values of Oregonians more than in the past? Does it mean that Oregonians themselves are becoming more environmentally conscious? Blue Oregon remarks, "Republican leadership changes may have an impact in the future. Outgoing Republican minority leader Wayne Scott had the lowest House rating at 15%. Incoming House minority leader Bruce Hanna had a 55%. Does this bode well for future bipartisan progress on the environment?"

Interesting question. We'll just have to wait and see.
