News accounts of Skyline Forest are pretty slim, but I thought I'd post a few stories for those looking for some background information on the matter.
The Sisters Nugget printed this piece entitled "Skyline Forest Owner Seeks Development" on August 21st, and this letter on August 29th.
The Bulletin printed this piece entitled "Deal would preserve 28,000 acres" on August 16th, and this editorial entitled "Saving A forest" on August 15th.
I know that Matt Preusch at the Oregonian did a piece on this last year and I'm still trying to track that down. And I wrote several pieces as a reporter for the Source Weekly last year as well, but those aren't available online. Anyway, they're outdated as the strategy for preserving the forest seems to have changed. Stay tuned though, the Source is about to unleash a big story later today. And LandWatch will have quite a bit of information on this issue coming out in the near future as well.
The Deschutes Basin Land Trust also has past press releases stored here.
UPDATE: the Source's Skyline Forest piece is here.
