Hello everyone,
It's time for another update on SB 30– not to report anything new regarding the bill, but to inform you that the time has come to shift our focus from the Senate to the House.
If you still want to send letters to send to Senators, either asking for their vote when SB 30 hits the Senate floor or thanking them for their ongoing support of SB 30, by all means send them. We want to have as strong a showing on the Senate floor as possible, and we certainly don't want to take anyone's vote for granted.
But assuming that SB 30 does pass the Senate, we'll have our work cut out for us in the House. And there is literally no time to lose– it's our understanding that the developers have already shifted their attention to the House. We don't want to give their lobbyists a head start now, do we? (I didn't think so!)
The last time we asked for letters, we suggested that you send them to Representatives Jeff Merkley (Speaker of the House), Dave Hunt (House Majority Leader), and Arnie Roblan (Chair of the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources).
Well, now it's time time to turn your full attention and your tremendous letter writing capacity not only to these three Representatives, but to the other six members of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, and to your own Representatives as well. Let them know just how much you support the current version of SB 30, tell them what the Metolius means to you, and stress to them that you don't want to see any destination resorts in or near the Metolius basin.

We would urge you to do two things: a) send e-mails/letters to the Representatives on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and copy House leadership, and b) send separate e-mails/letters to your own district's Representative and cc House leadership.
As always, blind copy us on all your letters (info@centraloregonlandwatch.org ) and let us know who you are, which city you live in, which representatives you've submitted the letter to, and when you sent it so that we can post them at noresorts.blogspot.com along with the more than 205 letters already up on the site. And please continue to send your amazing pictures and wonderful stories along as well.
Please also forward this e-mail along to your friends, family-members, and others who share your concern, and if you are a member of an environmental, land use, fishing, hunting, or otherwise outdoor-oriented group whose members you believe would like to see the Metolius and places like it protected from large-scale development, we urge you to contact them as well and ask for their support.
We wouldn't be asking you to send these letters if they didn't matter. So far, your overwhelming support has turned many heads and spoken volumes about how Oregonians (and others who visit the Metolius) feel about this special place. You've convinced the Senate just how strongly people feel about the Metolius, and now it's time to do the same for the House.
As always, thanks for your dedication and your perseverance, and don't hesitate to contact me with questions.
Yours,
Erik
