Ask the Joint Committee on Ways and Means to Prioritize Safety and Connectivity

As a leading member of the Bend to Suttle Lake Wildlife Passage Initiative, Central Oregon LandWatch is committed to bringing wildlife crossings structures to the dangerous stretch of Highway 20 near Black Butte Ranch.

With a Ways and Means hearing happening on April 25, your written testimony now requesting support for wildlife crossings will help ensure these legislators know that funding for crossings is an Oregon priority.

How to Submit Comments:

1.) Copy the sample testimony below. If you have a personal story about an accident or near accident with wildlife, please be sure to add that in.

3.) Fill out the relevant submission fields:

    • For “Position on Measure,” select ‘Support”

    • Choose “Text Testimony

  • Dear Members of the Ways and Means Committee:

    I strongly support funding for wildlife crossings.

    For both safety and habitat reasons, Oregon needs more crossing structures. Permanent state-level funding to support wildlife crossing initiatives will: 

    • Improve the safety of Oregon’s roadways 

    • Remove barriers to wildlife

    • Make Oregon more competitive in capturing federal funding

    Please build on the important progress at the state legislature over the past five years and ensure funding for crossings have a place in Oregon’s next budget.
