Walking in Beauty in Difficult Times

  • Central Oregon Community College, Wille Hall 2600 NW College Way Bend, OR 97703 United States (map)

Lupita McClanahan was raised in secrecy by her clan’s medicine people in Canyon de Chelly so that she could keep her culture alive. Though eventually taken to a boarding school, Lupita has dedicated her life to building a bridge between the contemporary world and traditional Dine’ way of life.

Through powerful storytellling, watch how she brings people into the canyon’s spiritual ways, while also re-educating the next generation of Dine’ peoples in their culture. Plus, enjoy fry bread made by Warm Springs tribal members.

This event hosted is by Central Oregon Community College, with support from Central Oregon LandWatch and the High Desert Museum.

McClanahan will also give three more talks in the area at the Sisters Library on Feb 3 at 11 am, at The Museum at Warm Springs on Feb 3 at 4 pm, and at the Redmond Library at Feb 4 at 5:30 pm.
