Celebrating Juneteenth in Central Oregon

Farming While Black—Free Juneteenth Screening

Last year, LandWatch staff had the opportunity to screen Farming While Black as part of our ongoing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion collective learning practice.

This feature-length documentary highlights the leadership and legacy of Black farmers and land stewards. From the height of Black-owned farms at 14% in 1910 to less than 2% today, the rising generation of Black farmers is finding strength in the deep historical knowledge of African agrarianism—and its potential to save the planet.

This Juneteenth, you can screen Farming While Black for free online! Learn how generations of Black farmers, community gardeners, land stewards and allies are reconnecting to their Afro-Indigenous regenerative agricultural roots, to not only heal, but find strength and inspiration in land; and in turn change the food system to be more just, healthy and climate resilient.

The film will be accessible for 24 hours on June 19 and include a special pre-recorded panel conversation featuring farmers from the documentary alongside the filmmakers. You don’t want to miss this opportunity, so be sure to RSVP to watch for free.
