Help Shape the Future of Bend’s Streets
On January 28, the Bend City Council will discuss revising our Street Standards. This will determine how future streets are built:
How wide they are.
How traffic lanes, parking lanes, bike lanes, sidewalks, and multi-use paths are arranged.
Where planting strips and trees will be placed.
All of this is up for debate. To advance walkable, climate-friendly, complete communities, LandWatch is advocating for safer, slower, narrower, and greener streets.
How To Weigh In
Write a short note to Bend City Council sharing what you’d like to see more of. Highlight some places where our current streets meet your needs—and where they don’t.

I live close to the gym at Juniper Park, but I have to cross 3rd Street to get there, which is always scary and uncomfortable, so I end up driving most of the time. We need safer crossings!
My kids can't walk or bike to school safely because they have to cross 27th Street, so I end up driving them, and getting stuck in the same old drop-off / pick-up lines. We need more safe routes to schools!
I have to walk to work along Boyd Acres Road everyday and there are no trees. In summer, it’s a really hot and unpleasant commute. We need more trees on our streets!
What to write: Share a short personal note about your experiences. One or two paragraphs max. What would help you traverse Bend more safely and efficiently? Tell your specific story.
