Make a Short Film About Wildlife Crossings

Documentary filmmakers invited to submit proposals

Central Oregon LandWatch is seeking proposals from documentary filmmakers (up-and-coming or experienced) to produce a short film about the need for — and progress toward — wildlife crossings over Highway 20 between Bend and Suttle Lake.

This beautiful area is a transition zone, where the Cascade Mountains meet ponderosa pine woodlands and it is home to significant wildlife migration corridors for mule deer and elk and a range of other species who depend on the ability to move freely across the landscape. With a highway bisecting this rich habitat, the area is prone to hundreds of wildlife-vehicle collisions each year. The elk and deer herds here face a heavy risk as they travel between their summer and winter range.

The Bend to Suttle Lake Passage Initiative is working to change that.

This broad coalition is planning and constructing a series of wildlife crossings to restore habitat connectivity and protect animals and people alike. This film will tell that story.

Project Goals

  • Highlight the ecological significance of this slice of Central Oregon

  • Celebrate the multi-partner collaboration making these crossings a reality

  • Build public awareness and momentum in advance of a major regional capital campaign

Proposals Accepted Until: May 2, 2026

Final Product Delivery: Mid-September 2026

Film Length: 6–12 minutes, finished and delivered in all formats described in RFP
