Join LandWatch staff for a field tour of the Bend to Suttle Lake Wildlife Passage Initiative corridor, and a chance to visit some of the proposed wildlife crossing locations and to learn about the importance of this area to regional wildlife.
The 35 miles of Highway 20 between Bend and Suttle Lake, Oregon has one of the highest densities of deer and elk vehicle collisions in the state of Oregon, creating a deadly situation for both people and wildlife. The convergence of a major highway and important wildlife migration and movement corridors has created a deadly situation for both people and wildlife.
To address this issue, a broad group of partners came together to form the Bend to Suttle Lake Wildlife Passage Initiative; the initiative is proposing to build a series of wildlife crossings to improve both human and wildlife safety along this important Central Oregon thoroughfare.
